The Kingdom Of Heaven Is At Hand
Mark 1:14-15 Now after John had been taken into custody, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, (15) and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
Just before Jesus said, “the kingdom of God is at hand”, He was baptized in water and baptized in the Holy Spirit. Then He went into the desert to be tempted by the devil and defeated His enemy, Satan, there. Next, Jesus preached, “the kingdom of God is at hand.” Then He picked His disciples and goes into His miracle making ministry. Everywhere Jesus went, He brought the kingdom of God on the scene. This caused signs, wonders, and miracles. Demons were cast out, people were healed, lepers were cleansed, and the dead were raised. The blind saw, the deaf would hear, the lame walked, the sick became well. Even the wind and rain obeyed Him. Plus He raised the dead. Love in action changed peoples’ lives. The greedy became generous. Sinners repented and changed their lifestyles. Hope increased. Heaven was made available to all. He told people about the kingdom of God; people received Him as Savior and Lord and followed Him and obeyed Him.
Remember, Jesus was preaching the gospel which is good news, And He was saying, “The kingdom of God is at hand.”
He told His disciples to preach and say, “The kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Note: The kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven is the same.) And they did the same things Jesus did and saw the same results.
Matthew 10:1, 7-8 (1) “Jesus summoned His twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every kind of disease and every kind of sickness. (7)And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ (8) Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons; freely you received, freely give.”
When the disciples did this they were amazed as God worked through them to perform miracles as Jesus did. The people were healed, demons fled, lives were changed, many believed in Jesus as Savior and began to follow Him.
We are talking here about the kingdom of God, not a denomination or a particular church group. Kingdom minded people think differently; we don’t think like the world. We trust God. We experience blessings. We expect God’s Presence. We expect and see miracles. We walk in love and unity toward one another. We are sensitive to the Holy Spirit and do what He says. We have Holy Spirit power. Jesus gives us authority over all the power of the enemy. We continuously point people to Jesus. We expect to be in heaven after we die. John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
Jesus preached about the kingdom of heaven. He taught us to pray to our Father in heaven and say, “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” In heaven there is nothing broken and nothing missing. We are to call the kingdom of heaven into earth. We are to call blessings into the earth. We are to call God’s will into the earth.
Jesus tells us to do the things that He did so we too are to preach and say, “the kingdom of heaven is at hand” and the same things will happen as it did with Jesus and His disciples. We are his disciples. And we are to make more disciples. We are here for kingdom business and activity. Jesus said in John 14:12 ”Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I go to the Father.”
