ON THE TRAIL
We stayed closer to home this summer. It was fun and we saw good fruit at the Lester Meier Pro Tour Rodeos and at the weekly rodeos at Tejas Rodeo in Bulverde, Texas.
At Lester Meier Rodeos we have Cowboy Church by the Tack trailer and Rodeo Secretary Office about 45 minutes before the rodeo. Because of the timing and the location we get a good crowd. Lester attends almost every service and encourages his helpers and the contestants to join in with us. Besides the Cowboy Church there is a lot of counsel and prayer with individuals throughout the rodeo event.
At Tejas Pastor Cody Haynes takes his bulls and holds Cowboy Church service every week one hour before the rodeo in the bleachers. When I am town he has me minister there.
Also Cody Haynes is involved in the movie and TV business. He is working on a western all summer. On a few occasions he asked me to come to the set to be a Wrangler. Sometimes I am in costume and sometimes I am taking care of the horses and being there for safety for the actors and actresses. We pray each day before filming. And God opens doors for us to quietly share our faith in Jesus and minister to the others who are involved in the production.
Beginning in September we are back on the road at the PRCA Rodeos. We went to Texarkana, Arkansas, and to Stephenville, Texas which is held very close to the cutoff date for qualifying for the WNFR. I reminded the contestants to Praise the Lord when things are bad or good. We praise God when we are doing well for our blessings; and we praise God when we are down because He will rescue us and will pluck our feet out of the net.” (Psalm 25:13)
While out on the road we stayed with Bill and Karen Shaw of Christian Cowboys Who Care Ministries in Douglass,TX near Nacogdoches. They started a new church there earlier this year which meets on Sunday mornings at their house. They rented a tent, and have plans for a building soon. Also they host “Getting It Right;” this is a Cowboy Church/Bible Study/Bull riding practice session. They meet at 6:30 PM on the first and third Tuesday of the month. Over 50 have received Jesus as Savior and Lord at his these events in the last few months. They have a nice new arena and some super practice bulls to help the kids learn to ride. The arena was built by faith. The funds came in when needed and they have a very nice facility. They also serve dinner and refreshments. The night I ministered in September about 5 people received Jesus and confessed Jesus as Lord before the people there. Others were encouraged in their walk with God.
It has been good to see the cowboys and cowgirls at the PRCA rodeos again this fall. Jesus said to go and make disciples. The cowboys we talk with are hungry for the Word if God. They have a lot of questions. We see them growing in Christ. And we continue to see Jesus heal broken and bruised bodies, along with broken dreams and hearts. I spoke to the pain in a bull rider’s elbow at the Texarkana, Texas rodeo and he reported to me a week later that the pain was all gone. It no longer bothered him when he rode bulls. We encourage them to stick with God’s plans that He lines out for us in the His Word, the Bible. We encouraged a young couple to have a relationship pleasing to God. Get married if you are to live together. Honor God and honor each other. They were very receptive and open to what the Word has to say about man/woman relationships. When we speak the truth in love people listen and receive it.
I am writing this the last week of September. The WNFR in Las Vegas, NV the first part of December and the Christmas season is upon us – even by the time many of you will read this. We speak the love and peace of God over all of our Cowboy Partners and all of the readers. We should be at the WNFR to Present Jesus at the rodeo, the trade shows, the casinos and other places. It is an exciting time in the kingdom of God. Keep your heart right with God. Psalm 52:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart O God…” Only the Blood of Jesus can cleanse our sins. Thank You Father for sending Jesus to us to be our Savior and our Best Friend.
The Presidential elections in the USA will be over by the time many of you see this report. No matter the outcome, continue to pray for the USA. The President and other leaders need to hear from the Holy Spirit and do as He says to do for us to be the blessed people He desires us to be. And we the people need to set our eyes on Jesus and our hearts on the Father, and His will for us to experience His love and protection and His best for this nation. Happy New Year to you all. Keep putting God first and trust Him in everything.
We invite any of you to become a Cowboy Partner in what we do in kingdom work. Our Cowboy Partners have a part in every soul we reach for Jesus. We speak blessings on you all-In Jesus name. Amen.
We continue on the Trail for Jesus.
Ronnie Christian, Phil 4:19
