On The Trail
We have been On The Trail closer to home this summer. Doors for ministry are steady being opened. This summer we are staying a little closer to home .We have been at a few of Lester Meier Open Pro Rodeo Tour events and Tejas Rodeo, a weekly event in Bulverde, TX, where Pastor Cody Haynes supplies the bucking bulls. Cody set it up with owner’s Yancey James and Trey Martin to have Cowboy Church each week before the rodeo. This has been done since the founding and opening about eight years ago. The Cowboy Church is one hour before the rodeo in the Grand Stands. The Lord has blessed this rodeo venture. This event grows in contestants and spectators each year. The facility has been added onto each year with more Grand Stands, Tejas Steak House, and other things. The Cowboy Church is well attended by contestants, their wives, friends, and family. Also spectators are welcome and come to worship and hear God’s Word. Over the years we have seen people get saved, healed, and set free from bondages at this rodeo. Many who come are believers who want to grow in Christ. A young bull rider was the only person recently at the Cowboy Church service who had not accepted Jesus as Savior and who had not settled his eternal destiny to be heaven. That changed one Saturday night in July. He received Jesus as his Savior and Lord, then he competed a little later that night. The next week he was back to learn to be a disciple and learn more about his walk with the Lord.
Recently a young girl who is a nursing student was attending with the bull fighter. They were both like sponges-hungry and thirty for the word of God. While he was at work in the arena doing his job she asked many questions and I filled her up with Scriptures and encouraged her to fulfill God’s purpose in her life. She prayed to be baptized in the Holy Ghost when I laid hands on her, and immediately she began speaking and praying in tongues. Fear left her and she left full of joy and power that Jesus supplies. After the rodeo the bullfighter wanted to know more about the things of God. They were booth hungry and desired to be pleasing to the Father. The next day (Sunday morning) they came to Faith Christian Church in Johnson City, Texas to get some more feeding by Pastor Cody Haynes. We believe to see great things for these two people. Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. (filled)”
At a recent Lester Meier Pro Touring Rodeo we had Cowboy Church and afterwards I walked down the alley to the arena. There was a young 15 year old bull rider who was starting to ride bulls again after a three year layoff. He had gotten into some legal trouble. We talked a bit; he was open and honest with me. Then I prayed with him and led him to receive Jesus as Savior and Lord. His dad came over later with a smile on his face. We pray this young man continues to grow in Christ.
Another door for ministry and work has been with Cody Haynes on the movie set. I went for a few days of filming to work as a Wrangler. We dress in cowboy clothes and ride horses in the scenes. Also we make sure that the wagon teams of horses, and the actor’s horses do not run away with them. People were open to the gospel as we walked around and worked, and also rode on our horses. We quietly ministered as the opportunity arose. Cody always gets the Wrangler crew for the day together to pray. I have seen him get all the people on a movie set together to pray at the start of each day’s filming. It’s a busy place, but God let’s us find time to uplift His Name and encourage people in the Lord.
On the Trail for Jesus,
Ronnie and Cherlyn Christian
