Jesus said, “Wait for the promise of the Father…”
Recently I preached at rodeos on the power of the cross and the blood of Jesus. This past Saturday at the Bulverde, TX Rodeo I ministered on what Jesus said after He rose from the dead and appeared to the disciples over a period of 40 days. He said to “wait for the promise of the Father”; the promise is the baptism in the Holy Ghost (Holy Spirit).
About 20 people at the rodeo, including some rodeo contestants asked Jesus to baptize them in the Holy Ghost. He gives us power to be bold witnesses for Jesus and to be overcomers. We receive not only the fruit of the Spirit – love, joy, peace, etc (Gal 5:22-230, but also the gifts of the Spirit – word of wisdom, word of knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, effecting of miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, various kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues (I Cor 12:8-10). We receive power to cast out demons and defeat the devil and more…
Jesus Christ is the same today (Heb 13:8) and He still baptizes His followers in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of praying and speaking in tongues and prophesying plus more. You can have another experience with the Holy Spirit. Ask Jesus to baptize you in the Holy Ghost and receive the gifts and power of God in your life. Expect signs, wonders, and miracles. Expect to win people to Jesus – share the good news of Jesus and eternal life. Share that there is victory in Jesus.
Luke 24:49 And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.” Acts 1:4 Gathering them together, He commanded them not to leave Jerusalem, but to wait for what the Father had promised, “Which,” He said, “you heard of from Me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Excellent devotion. Would love to hear this preacher. We visit a church now and then where the brothers are bull riders – Tim Stuen (Might Men Ministries). I can’t think of his brother’s name. Amazing men of God. Have a blessed day.
