DON’T LIMIT GOD
DON’T LIMIT GOD
Mark 10:27 …for all things
are possible with God.
DON’T LIMIT GOD!
Psalm 78:40-41 “How often they provoked (rebelled against) Him in the wilderness, and grieved Him in the desert
(41) Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.”
The Israelites that Moses led out of slavery kept testing God, trying Him, murmuring against Moses and God, and walked in doubt and
unbelief. This put a limit on the very blessings God was desiring to bring to them. They complained that there was no water, no food, and that
Moses had led them there to die and be put in graves. But God gave them water, food, kept them alive and fulfilled His promise to get Israel into
the promised land.
DON’T LIMIT GOD!
• Don’t Limit God • Don’t despise the day of small things (beginnings) • Don’t trust in riches
• Don’t trust in your own power and might • Don’t forget to thank God after your blessing comes
DON’T FORGET TO THANK GOD AFTER YOUR BLESSING COMES – Luke 17:11-14 In this story Jesus cleansed 10 lepers. Verse 15 says “Now
one of them, when he saw that he had been healed, turned back, glorifying God in a loud voice, (16) and he fell on his face at His feet, giving
thanks to Him.” (17) And Jesus answered and said ‘Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine-where are they?’” The one got an even greater
blessing. See vs. 19 “And He said to him, ‘Rise, and go your way; your faith has made you well’” (Also this has been interpreted “your faith has
saved you.”) The nine were made well physically. This one was made whole plus well physically and spiritually. The nine were saved from
sickness, the one was saved from sickness and sin. His body and his heart were cleansed.
DON’T TRUST IN YOUR OWN POWER AND MIGHT – Deut. 8:11-19 This is somewhat like the other story above. God was bringing His people
to the land of abundance. Success was coming. Yet to get it all, they had to work at it, to walk it out, to do battle, to defeat the enemy. But
it was God who supplied them their plans and their strength to get the job done. Verse 11-18 says (11) “Beware that you do not forget the Lord
your God by not keeping His commandments,…” When you have eaten and are full, when you have silver, gold, cattle, when you defeat the
enemy, He desires us to stay humble or else we will say as in vs. 17 “then you say in your heart ‘My power and the might of my hand have
gained me this wealth.’ (18) And you shall remember the Lord your God for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish
His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”
Keep practicing, studying, working hard at what you do. When you become successful remember it is God who supplies you what you
need. Remember God! Give Him thanks!
DON’T TRUST IN RICHES – I Tim. 6:17 “Instruct those who are rich in the present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty
of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy.” Remember the man in the Bible who became rich? He said to himself
that he would build bigger barns and store up enough to last many years. He was trusting in his riches but his riches could not keep him
alive. God required his soul that very night as he planned his retirement. Trust in God – not your riches.
DON’T DESPISE THE DAY OF SMALL BEGINNINGS – Sometimes the size of your business, how much you have won (as in rodeos), your business,
your church, your ministry or how you see yourself as small compared to your peers, can cause others or even yourself to despise your
beginnings. But God lets us know if we are faithful in a little, He can trust us with much. Be faithful where you are now and you will be able
to handle increase better when it comes. Keep walking by faith.
Zechariah 4:6-12 Remember “‘not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit’ says the Lord of hosts.” It is by God’s power you will do
your accomplishments and achieve your dreams. Zerubbabel was to build the temple. The beginning work seemed so small. But God said in
vs. 10 “For who has despised the day of small things?” He goes on to say that they would see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. The
plumb line was to check the straightness of the wall. In other words the wall, the job, would be complete. He started small and finished big.
You can too. Do not despise your size. Just keep growing.
DON’T LIMIT GOD
1.) We limit God by saying, “I can’t” when He says, “We can.”
2.) We limit God when we don’t walk by faith. II Cor. 5:7 for we walk by faith, not by sight – Walking by what we see, feel, taste, touch, hear
and smell can limit God.
3) Walking by circumstances limit God – Circumstances can change but the Word of God never changes. The Word is what changes your circumstances.
Read the Bible – get a Word from God about your circumstances – they will change.
4) Don’t limit God in prayer. Mark 11:24
5) Don’t limit God with what you say. Mark 11:23
6) Don’t limit God when you are sick. James 4:14-15
7) Don’t limit God when you lay hands on people.
• Lay hands on the sick – they will recover. Mark 16:18
• Lay hands on people for blessings
• Lay hands on people for the baptism in the Holy Spirit
• Lay hands on people to send them out for ministry and on mission trips.
EXPECT MIRACLES! – DON’T LIMIT GOD TO THE STORIES IN THE BIBLE -We are a people of God today. He still heals, fills, delivers, helps
us provide. Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today, yes and forever.”
DON’T LIMIT GOD IN WHO HE CAN FORGIVE AND SAVE – Romans 10:13 “for ‘Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved.’”
He can save your boss, your spouse, your children, hateful people, even people who say there is no God. He can also save you and give you
eternal life. If this is your desire pray this. “God I am calling on you now. I confess I am a sinner. I ask you to forgive me of my sin. Thank you
Jesus for dying on the cross for me to wash me clean. I ask you to be my Savior and I receive you now as Lord of my life. I am now your child,
saved from hell on my way to You in Heaven. Holy Spirit teach me how to live a life pleasing to God. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen.” Now read
your Bible everyday, pray everyday, and meet with other believers regularly to grow in Christ. Get a church home. (See Rom. 3:10, 3:23, 5:8,
6:23, 10:8-10, John 3:16, Acts 2:38)
DON’T LIMIT GOD IN YOUR GIVING – The Bible declares over and over “give and it shall be given to you.” As you give – it is called seed
and “God gives seed to the sower” II Cor 9:10. As you give firstfruits and the first 10% of your increase-the tithe and special offerings, God will
supply your needs and more so you can seed again. We speak blessings on you.
